Never spent too much time in Carrollton, KY or the park there, but recently I had an engagement shoot. A very sweet gal I used to work with is getting married this fall and she picked some places out in the park. She and her man rocked it ;) I'll definately be using the park again! Plus, KY state parks are FREEEEEEEEE!!! Indiana is $5 (the pass for the year is about $35 I think, can't remember!) On the way back the sun was setting so perfectly and everything just sparkled. It was beautiful! The reason I fell in love with this place! I stopped and took some extra pics of Richwood Plantation, the old riding academy in Milton, KY and also at the bottom of the Milton-Madison Bridge, which is slated to be replaced here in a year or so.

Our first wedding of the year! It was held across the river at the Richwood Plantation. It's a beautiful place! This is the second wedding we've shot there and the THIRD wedding where we've had the family puppy as the ring bearer! :) We love puppies too, so it was great fun. The bride's hair was done by the Aveda Salon on Main Street here in Madison, the dress from Rebecca's Wedding Boutique, catering by the Red Pepper Deli (rehearsal) and The Rolling Pin (reception). The DJs were excellent, must find they're info!!! It was too cold outside, so we did group portraits in the mansion. Really, that place is beautiful! Oh, and the bride and groom had the neatest guestbook. When guests arrived they signed a circle on a painted tree the couple had framed (initials carved into it of course!).

Hello 2011!!!!

I've been trying to catch up with photos and such. Most of my stuff ends up on our facebook page. There seems to be MUCH more space there for photos (kinda essential to a photo blog, right?) So, if you get a chance, look us up over there :)

We are expecting another boy in April!!!!!!! So, pretty much the spring wedding season is going to be out for us :( We have a few that were scheduled last year that we still honor, but I think with a new baby, full time jobs, full time school, and a photo business we might wait until fall to pick up weddings again. On another note - I can't wait for the one in October! It's going to be great. A dear friend of mine is FINALLY getting hitched! We've only been waiting YEARS ;) jk. We're very happy for them and can't wait for the day to finally get here. That wedding will be in Greensburg, I believe. It could be in Alaska for all I care, we'll be there!!! :)

Hopefully I can get the photos uploaded on this blogger account! I'm really getting quite frustrated with photo limitations on here! Blah. Anyway, we closed out the fall wedding season with a whopper of a party. Needless to say I had NO IDEA what kind of fun was to be had! I guess I should have though, after all we were in Switzerland County, a place very dear to my heart full of folks that know how to have a good time! The wedding was at Caledonia Presbyterian Church, very close to Moorefield, IN. The reception was held at the Moorefield Fire Hall, where the bride's father, who usually has to organize these kind of things, got the chance to throw himself a party! :) What a party! I have never seen so much food & dancing in my life at a wedding! They even had bagpipes at the church. It was so entertaining and wonderful to watch. I really really enjoyed the night! The cake was done by Thera & Josh South of The Cake Factory of Vevay, IN. Hair was done by Asia Covington.

This was another beautiful wedding in Downtown Madison. It is actually our own anniversary and we were very excited to share in someone else's journey! Amy and Chris are a very cute couple and made sure everyone had a blast, from hair and makeup to the last dance! It was great to spend the day with these wonderful families! The girls hair was done at Stylz Unlimited, the wedding at Prince of Peace and the reception at the Knights of Columbus.

This was really a blast! The mother of the bride was a friend of mine. We worked together at a lab and really had a great time, I was so excited when she wanted me to do her daughter's wedding! Turns out, her daughter is just as awesome to work with :) My husband and I really, really, really enjoyed the day! The family was wonderful, and I don't think I've ever seen so many happy people gathered in one place! The bride's grandmother grew all of the flowers herself and made the bouquets. It really made it special. The dresses were at Madison Wedding and Prom downtown, so the girls got dressed there. They did a great job of keeping everyone ironed, pinned and cooled off (it was June, but boy was it warm!) The wedding was at the Broadway Fountain in Downtown Historic Madison. Which, if your interested, call the Parks Department to make reservations. The reception followed immediately afterward down the street at the Livery Stable, a part of the Historic Broadway Hotel. Everyone was dancing and having a great time! Thank you guys!!!

I could not log on to this for forever! Hmmm... finally figured out the password! We've had another beautiful wedding and another one is scheduled for tomorrow. Can't wait! We've also had Ms. Sofie, a beautiful baby girl and Ms. Meghan's senior pics. I'll share some snippits when I get caught up. We're planning a vacay soon, and can't wait to get on the beach for some more pics. Even ordered a new remote trigger. I have no idea were the other went... I stick with the cheapy ones (you can pick them up on ebay for <$5!) because I have a knack for misplacing things.
We've also booked 3 more weddings as well!! Yay! Can't wait to see all the glam and happy people ;) Thank you guys!

Thought we'd head out an scope out some cool spots around town. It sure has been beautiful!!! The kiddo is my travelocity gnome, per se; ) Only I wish when you said, "Hey, mom is over here!" they wouldn't make faces like they've been duct taped to the scenery!!! I just wanted to thank our friends Donovan and Kate for being the most patient of all our photo guineau pigs. You guys always rock!!

I'm also very happy to have our Tamron wide angle back. Yippie! It suffered quite an event earlier this summer. The camera took a tumble, but the lense caught the bulk of the impact. Luckily the folks at the company put humpty-dumpty back together again for a fair price. :) Can't wait to break it back out.

Here's some pics from our recent trip to Merriville Indiana to visit some dear friends of ours. The toddler loved the sand! Oh, and somebody suggested that view of the Chicago was much better atop Mt. Baldy. Oh boy!!! Well, we didn't get the view of the city b/c of fog and atomosphere, but the resulting pics were wonderful anyway. :)

We found out about this group through Bernie Kasper (thanks Bernie!). What a great experience. We had a wonderful model and got a tour of the beyond exceptional Mr. Foto's studio. What more could a girl ask for? We met lots of new folks and got to listen in on all the brewings and stewings of the profession. Here are some pics from that shoot. I'm trying to post everybody's website, but it make take a few days. Really, these guys were awesome!

Date night at the river.

This just goes to show how dorky we are. This is the kinda stuff we do on 'date night'. Actually, we did go see a movie first, but of course we ended up taking pictures of something before we called it a night. This is the Madison-Milton Bridge. They've been testing it for stability and may end up building another bridge on those pillars. I knew that the construction lights would make really nice, hassle free strobes for us ;) The air temp was fairly warm and the water was cold so we knew there might be some fog so we headed downtown. It was just rolling in as we set up and gave a little bit of atmosphere. I was done taking pics when this barge showed up (I had to pee very very bad). David took this one. That's the cabin of the tug behind the barge.

Bicentennial Photo Contest Winners!!!

Looks like we made it!!!

We didn't take top prize, but David got 2nd, I placed 3rd and took away an honorable mention. The contest was sponsored by the Madison Bicentennial Committee. We will receive some prize money. I've already been scouring the B&H catalog. I'm debating on welcoming a softbox, octabox or a cheaper umbrella to the family. Then there's whether to add another SB800 to the set or go with some monolights. Oh decisions, decisions.

Introducing Us

We are a husband and wife team that enjoy spending our free time running our our photo business. Are we crazy or what?! It's been a long time coming and we really hope this whole photo thing takes off;)
I started off in Graphic Design about 11 years ago. I ended up at a newspaper designing ads and getting frustrated that I couldn't do more. Off I went to IU for Advertising. One class with Fashion Merchandising majors and I was seriously reconsidering. "You mean I have to put up with folks like this everyday?". I believe there was an interior design student in the class as well and she quickly decided that this was not the best place for her either. Us artsy folk just don't have the stomach for that high power city stuff. Not that we're not capable, but it just interferes with the art mind (at least I'd like to think so).
I was burned out on design and took an anatomy class. I loved it. In fact I always loved science. Look at DaVinci, art and science just belong together. Light and photography is just an application of physics. Art imititates life, and the study of life is biology. So, that is how we go from art classes to pre-med.
While at that newspaper I met my future husband. He had also been to IU for history and theater. He's very dramatic ;) He started out as a sports clerk and has worked his way up. He is now the sports writer and photographer for the paper and serves as editor when staffing calls for it. We both love travel and we both love photography. His background in sports photography translates extremely well in wedding and child photography. He has excellent timing and is always ready for that next shot. I love messing with shutter speeds and aperatures which drives him crazy. We're photo-ying and photo-yang.
I now keep my dayjob as a lab tech and moonlight with photography. I get to use those old advertising and design skills to promote our business and all those classes in Photoshop sure have paid off.
Joining our crew is the adventurous 3 year old. He's already taking photos at basketball games with dad. I call him lil' Leibowitz. He's a ham and our #1 studio monkey.
